THE MECCA OF ALL MAKEUP STORES
When I heard Mecca Maxima was opening up on Queen Street I was beyond excited. In the last few years I have taken up a real love for makeup and like most of you, eagerly explore YouTube and Instagram for all the latest on beauty!
Since opening its doors earlier this month, the store has been a-buzz with customers lining up to get in the door. For this reason, I decided to book in for a one-on-one makeup tutorial. I highly recommend booking in for one of these. There are several different options to choose from, all varying in price, but redeemable on product. Yay! Plus you get to pick the brain of a talented Makeup Artist and learn many extra tips and tricks to try at home.
I arrive mid Tuesday morning and are shown over to the makeup stations. I meet my Makeup Artist and we discuss what I’d like to achieve from the lesson and particular products I would like to try. Of course I already had a list down to the floor of products I wanted to test, but we manage to narrow it down to a small selection to help achieve a bronzed, dewy look, focusing on skin and contouring.
She goes to work creating the perfect base. Nars sheer glow foundation is buffed into skin, followed by a serum based concealer and a flurry of different highlighting and bronzing products including Nars and Kevyn Aucoin. For Mascara we settle on the famous ‘Better than sex’ mascara by Two Faced and to finish, a light misting of the most gorgeous setting spray by Glam Glow. Feeling super happy with my hour of glam, it was time for the hardest part, picking which products to take home with me…

The most gorgeous and refreshing facial mist, this product has been on my wish list for a while, and priced at only $10 this spray is a must to pick up next time you are in-store.
So many beauty babes swear by this product to help dry out spots overnight and hey if it’s good enough for Lara Bingle it’s good enough for me!
I’ve been needing a new setting spray and really loved how this made my skin look on the day. It really helped make the skin look less cakey by taking away that powdery look and gave my skin a nice light glow. I will give an updated review on this product in a few weeks so stay tuned!
Ahhhh this was an absolute must! This beautiful palette features both the most popular bronzing shades Casino and Laguna as well as four beautiful highlighters. I had just hit pan last week on my Laguna bronzer so decided this would be a nice palette to splurge on. The most gorgeous packaging and these colours look just as much at home on the eyelids as they do on the cheeks.
I have heard such amazing reviews about this mascara and loved it on my lashes on the day. Instantly defined them and the colour is a nice, true black. I did find it transferred a little over the course of the day onto my under-eyes though, but will keep you updated with a full review of this mascara in a few weeks.
A beauty staple for so many beauty babes, Lanolips contains the best ingredients to naturally hydrate and protect the lips, not to mention leaving the glossiest of finishes and did I mention its baby friendly.
